Brattleboro’s Scott Hausmann of Whetstone guitars has just started producing an affordable line of hand-made acoustic guitars. They are just lovely, a real treasure for the player looking for good quality and local artistry. This Whetstone OO Concert 12 fret guitar features an Indian rosewood fret board and bridge with bone nut and saddle. The finish is an eco-friendly hand rubbed Tung Oil Varnish. A simple guitar-no binding, no bling except for a handsome touch of black-white-black purfuling on the top and a simple black and white half-herringbone rosette to add some class.For tone, we’re looking at a bright, woody fingerpicking type of sound, good for folk, blues, ragtime, or singing accompaniment.
In addition to building guitars, Scott runs the Whetstone School of Lutherie, teaching interested folk from all over the United States how to build guitars or ukuleles. Good reports on this from all his students!
