“I unpacked my new Don Edwards OOO29 about five weeks ago. What a beautiful guitar! It was well worth the wait, and is everything I asked for.
I started the process in January, after doing much research in a quest to build the “perfect” guitar for me. I had some medical concerns that had to be addressed in terms of playability, then determined some specifications dealing with my style of playing (fingerpicking) and last but not least, I wanted a beautiful guitar that connects me to my idol, Don Edwards. These goals were all achieved with the help of knowledgeable people at Santa Cruz and Maple Leaf Music. It was a joy to go through the process of creating this wonderful instrument.
The guitar is one that I can’t stop looking at, not quite believing the beauty of it. I also can’t get over the range and color of sound that can be created in playing it. I play in a bluegrass, gospel, cowboy group, and it lends such a distinctive sound to the mix of banjo, mandolin, bass and lead dreadnaught guitar in the group! It has plenty of volume and boom, and can be bright when needs be. The custom inlay is beautiful and has drawn many admiring comments also. It is MY perfect guitar. I cherish it and handle it with kid gloves, but am not babying it. It has already been played at outdoor gigs, indoor gigs, in the heat and on cool nights on a fairground stage.
I knew that when I had my perfect guitar built, it would be a Santa Cruz. I have a D- PW that gets used a lot, and had a OO in the past. I knew that I would get the best guitar possible if I ordered a Santa Cruz. I am one of your greatest fans and boosters. Quality is worth the cost, and I sure feel like I got my money’s worth and more with this guitar and the guitar-building experience I was able to share with you. Thanks again!”
Customizations not listed in the spec list include a horse-shoe inlay at the 5th fret, a 000 sized body, low profile neck, pickguard, and Santa Cruz logo on the headstock.
