Collings

Bill CollingsBill Collings builds incredibly clean and consistent guitars both in sound and in workmanship. Very projection oriented, they have a dependable clearness and brightness that makes them favorites among professional musicians, like Lyle Lovett, Jerry Jeff Walker, Tim Sparks, Phil Heywood and Pete Huntlinger.

They are sturdily built, making them excellent choice for taking on the road. Collings Guitars are hand built with the most cosmetically perfect woods that is seen today; one would never find irregular red spruce coloring in their Adirondack tops. Their fits and finishes are always totally impeccable; their guitar insides are as pristine as their sharp, clean-edged outsides, no doubt contributing to the cleanness of the sound. The Adirondack and Honduran mahogany D1A’s are especially spectacular as is our recent most popular Collings, the D2G in Indian and German with the Vintage Now neck.

These guitars stay in tune no matter how hard you hit them but even with a soft touch, the resonance and volume is spectacular. Keeping in mind that no two guitars ever sound or play exactly the same, we would say that from one guitar to the next of the same woods and model, Collings guitars are the most dependably consistent in the industry. Bill thinks guitars can only be one of two ways: perfect or wrong and god help you if work for Bill and think otherwise. As Bob Taylor says, “You can’t buy a better guitar than a Collings.” And as we say, “Bob’s right, as usual”.
