As with our Collings guitars we try to offer unusual woods or finishes in our instruments, so that the player has a unique piece. This F style mandolin falls neatly into that category: a standard Collings F mandolin that’s been pimped! We have had her finished in Honey Amber with flat back and sides, and for protection, a gloss top. She sports a tortoise bound ebony pickguard and an ebony head stock; the back of the head stock is also laminated with ebony for that extra cache. The top is very even wide-grained Adirondack spruce and the back and sides, wide striped incredibly deep curly maple. A very handsome instrument indeed.
Tone would make any bluegrass picker proud: loud, deep and cutting. A fine, fine mandolin for sure!
