Collings MF5 in quilted maple with a tobacco sunburst finish. Ivoroid bindings and tuners. Bound ebony pickguard. Incredible exquisite mandolin- handsome and great chunky loud sound. The best of the best. Christian played this and gave me the low down. He says this is a most unusual Collings mando, sounding more like a Gibson LLoyd Loar than any other mandolin he’s ever played. Dark, smokey, dense, lots of volume and bass with great warmth and overtones, but without the typical Collings brightness in the high end. He’s amazed, pleased and excited all at the same time- an exceptional instrument.
Sorry- this one just sold. We have reordered one with curly curly maple. Predicted for September! Yay!
