As should be expected, Bill Collings does just as good a job on his mandos as on the ukes and guitars. Which is to say fabulously astounding.The workmanship and materials in Collings instruments just can’t be beat. This fine sunburst A Collings is made with Engelmann Spruce and deep curly maple back and sides. For budgetary reasons, we chose to order her with a satin finish. However from experience we have found that the addition of an ebony pick guard and gloss finish on the top allows for long term protection of the spruce. The pick guard, the top and the sound hole are bound with creamy ivory; the matching ivoroid buttons on the tuners clinch the deal. And of course the best sounding A in the shop, no doubt about it! With hard case.
