At present, the walnut guitars that we carry are usually from Froggy Bottom. The wood, called Bastone, comes from Oregon or California and is a hybrid cross of American and French walnut. Furniture grade walnut is typically soft and gray brown, but with Michael Millard selecting hardest , most highly figured master grade wood, the results are truly spectacular. The sound is warm and rich with great color and sustain. The burls from these trees are often used for Jaguar dashboards; good Bastone walnut is very scarce and expensive.
